D-Girl (Dope Girl) (feat. Pimp C) (<!--Y<!--W)

Brooke Valentine, chanteuse R&B aux ambiances très Dirty South (elle vient de Houston), nous revient cet été avec son second album "Physical Education", suite à son premier essai "Chain Letter" (avec le fameux "Girlfight"). Pour son second opus, elle a choisi le single "DopeGirl" en featuring Pimp C, moitié du duo UGK (avec Bun B). Bref, premier single très South pour Brooke.

Le "D-Girl" remplace "DopeGirl", car le mot "Dope" (drogue) est un nom proscrit car trop figuratif. "Dope" peut se comprendre par "dopé", "drogué", ou dans un sens plus positif, "très performant". Une "DopeGirl" doit surement être une sorte de Wonder Woman, ou autre fille en forme. Si on fait le rapport ave le titre de l'album ("Education Physique"), ça se rejoint assez... Cependant, les lyrics de la chanson reflètent plutôt une comparaison avec la drogue, Brooke décrivant son charme comme narcotique. L'expression à double sens est subtilement employée par la chanteuse, notamment dans le refrain. Elle vante qu'elle a eu cette drogue et qu'elle est à la fois cette drogue. Alors que l'assimilation de la drague à la drogue devrait laisser un mauvais goût, ça n'est pas le cas, car elle le fait de manière plutôt plaisante. Pimp C vient diluer toutefois l'aspect très charmant et léger de la chanson par des lyrics plus crues.
