Biographie de The Alan Parsons Project

The Alan Parsons Project ou APP est un groupe de rock progressif formé en 1975 en Angleterre.
Alan Parsons rencontre Eric Woolfson aux Studios Abbey Road en 1974. Eric Woolfson travaillait alors comme pianiste de session mais était également compositeur et avait écrit des compositions. Alan, quelque peu frustré de n'être que producteur pour d'autres artistes, décida de s'associer avec Woolfson pour fonder son propre groupe 'The Alan Parsons Project'.
Leur premier album 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' est sorti en 1976.
De nombreux autres musiciens prirent part aux différents albums, qui sortirent alors au rythme d'un par an, connaissant un succès croissant un peu partout sur la planète. Mais le point culminant de ce succès se situe entre 1982 et 1984, époque à laquelle deux chansons, Eye in the Sky et Don't Answer Me deviennent de grands tubes internationaux.
Le groupe s'est représenté jusqu'en 1990. Alan Parson se lance alors en solo. Eric Woolfson est décédé le 2 décembre 2009 d'un cancer du rein.
