'End of Beginning' explore les thèmes de la transformation personnelle et de la réflexion sur les expériences passées.
Dans une interview accordée à Variety en 2024, Joe Keery (Djo) a révélé que l'inspiration de la chanson lui était venue de son expérience : après avoir quitté Chicago (Illinois), où il étudiait à l'université DePaul et jouait dans le groupe Post Animal, pour s'installer à Los Angeles (Californie), suite à son rôle révélateur dans la série télévisée Stranger Things (2016), Keery a expliqué que la chanson parle de “about what it means to grow up and look back at a section of your life and kind of yearn for that, but then also to have a deep appreciation for what happened.” (ce que signifie grandir, se remémorer une période de sa vie et éprouver une certaine nostalgie, mais aussi une profonde reconnaissance pour ce qui s'est passé)
